Apparently making propaganda together creates a lot of heat:

Star has learned that Al has been having an affair with Laurie, who divorced Seinfeld creator and Curb Your Enthusiasm star Larry David in 2007 amidst reports she was cheating with the caretaker of their Martha's Vineyard summer home.

Fear Not Selling Anymore

We've grown used to these kind of scare tactics from Al Gore over the years:

"Some of the models suggest to Dr [Wieslav] Maslowski that there is a 75 per cent chance that the entire north polar ice cap, during the summer months, could be completely ice-free within five to seven years."

Unfortunately for Al, these kind of statements no longer get the free pass they once enjoyed:

However, the climatologist whose work Mr Gore was relying upon dropped the former Vice-President in the water with an icy blast.

“It’s unclear to me how this figure was arrived at,” Dr Maslowski said. “I would never try to estimate likelihood at anything as exact as this.”

Mr Gore’s office later admitted that the 75 per cent figure was one used by Dr Maslowksi as a “ballpark figure” several years ago in a conversation with Mr Gore.

It would be interesting to know how many years "several" is. Could it be 5 to 7 years?

Over the last "several" years it has become much more common for the warmenists to talk of impending disaster in terms of "within the decade" rather than "within the century." We are rapidly coming up on a time when we can look at those predictions in a comparison to the reality. At that time, what were likely scare tactics in a gamble to create urgency could be the final nail in the pseudo-religio-science of global warming.

When you bluff, sooner or later you get burned. Al Gore does not seem to have realized yet that the tide has turned against the fear mongerers. That's fine with me, as it will only "hasten the decline."

Desperation Causes Global Warming

This article smacks of the kind of desperation we've become more and more accustomed to.

One thing I didn't see in the article is how the balance is affected by differences in life expectancy. If thin people live 20 years longer, on average, than heavy people, is that enough time to make up the difference in CO2 output?

Wait.

Sorry about that. For a moment there I actually considered this "study" something worth more than abject ridicule. I will refrain from further comment until it can be determined what affect ridicule has on the environment.

No Accident

This is truly astounding. Please read Al Gore's remarks to Congress today and see if you can tell what elementary assertion is missing. That it isn't there can't possibly be an accident.

I'll give you a day or two to figure it out but I don't think it will take that long.

Lincoln = Obama? Al Gore = Ass

Al Gore compares Obama to Lincoln:

..."before he entered the White House, Abraham Lincoln’s experience in elective office consisted of eight years in his state legislature in Springfield, Ill., and one term in Congress –- during which he showed the courage and wisdom to oppose the invasion of another country, that was popular when it started, but later condemned by history.

"The experience Lincoln’s supporters valued most in that race was his powerful ability to inspire hope in the future at a time of impasse," Gore said. "He was known chiefly as a clear thinker and a great orator, with a passion for justice and a determination to heal the deep divisions of our land.

Lincoln did indeed oppose the Mexican war, an "invasion of another country." Then, as president, he promptly invaded another country and made all-out war on it until it was thoroughly subdued. To be sure, Lincoln wanted to heal the "deep divisions of our land," but only after absolute victory was achieved. His "passion for justice"included the suspension of habeas corpus over the objection of the Supreme Court.

While Obama changes his mind on important issues almost daily, Lincoln withstood five years of intense criticism from partisans on either side of him, staying true to his own beliefs the entire time.

Obama's speeches are over-the-top, arrogant, and self-aggrandizing, in which he plays the role of the Great Savior. Lincoln's speeches, as in at Gettysburg, and in his second inaugural, were short, humble, and downplayed, if even mentioned, his own role in history as it unfolded.

Obama and Lincoln are nothing alike. And, frankly, I resent Al Gore's historical butchering of the greatest president who ever lived in order to further exalt Obama, whose entire career has involved the betterment only of Barack Obama.

For the Birds

A Dog Named Kyoto has a collection of winners from "The Sky's Not Falling" essay contest, in which mere children debunk the theory of global climate warming change. My favorite? This gem:

If Al Gore's film "An Inconvenient Truth," is suitable for teaching about climatology, then Alfred Hitchcock's film the "The Birds," is a good candidate for teaching ornithology.

What? birds don't intentionally fly into windows head first, just to kill some humans?

Duckoganda

Spotted by Tom D. at the intersection of I-35E and Larpenteur in St. Paul, this billboard:

"Good idea, too bad its unreadable from the road. The text is too small and too crowded together," says he.

According to GlobalClimateScam.com, the billboard is one of a variety placed as part of a "campaign to help educate the public on the facts behind global warming hysteria and encourage a more robust debate on whether global warming should be an issue addressed by state public policy." Of the billboards, the one above is the most densely packed with words. My favorite is "Climate Cops." Watcha gonna do when they come for you?

For Want of a Whirligig

Joseph Laconte addresses the incredibly lame effort the U.N. has made in stopping the horror that is Darfur:

Perhaps better U.N. leadership would not have led to six months of fruitless negotiations with Jordan for helicopters ultimately deemed inadequate for the mission. Perhaps if the United Nations hadn't squandered billions of dollars in its Oil-for-Food scandal in Iraq, Ban wouldn't now be trolling for contributions for U.N. peacekeepers. Instead, we have the spectacle of the U.N. Secretary General begging for helicopters from states such as China--the Security Council member that arguably has done the most to block meaningful action to stop the bloodletting.

"We are at a critical point. Time is running out," Ban said last week. Ah, yes, the ticking clock: Two days later the Secretary General flew to Bali for a conference on climate change with Al Gore. The people of Darfur could wait.

Then again, Darfur might be bad, but the "earth has a fever. And the fever is rising." What could be worse the specter of "carbon summer."

Rulings Won't Cool Our Frying Mother

As everyone knows by now, the Goracle's (I am a bad, bad man) propheteering is complete.

I suppose it is simply the mouth breather in me - that and the GOP downloads received daily so I know what to think - that inexplicably finds it noteworthy that a British judge has found Al's movie to contain nine scientific errors and numerous inaccuracies.

Of course, the errors were minor really. The judge simply found no demonstrable link between global climate warming change and a) the disappearance of snow on Mt. Kilimanjaro, b) the drying up of Lake Chad, c) the drowning of polar bears, d) the bleaching of coral reefs.

He also found no evidence of evacuated atolls or that sea levels would rise 20 feet in the next thousand years, did find evidence that Antarctic ice is increasing, no danger from a melting Greenland, and numerous meaningless examples of Gore's alarmism.

Yawn.

Clearly the ruling is just an example of the "RWM's" control over the British legal system and nothing more. Free thinkers can rest easy, IT DOESN'T CHANGE THE FACT THAT WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE A TRAGIC DEATH, AND SOON.

I'm sure that comes as a relief.

Fiction Stranger Than Truth

It looks like Al's a Nobel shoe-in for raising awareness:

Gore, who has raised awareness with his book and Oscar-winning documentary "An Inconvenient Truth," and Canadian Inuit activist Sheila Watt-Cloutier, who has shed light on how global warming affects Arctic peoples, were nominated to share the prize by two Norwegian parliamentarians. (emphasis added)

Meanwhile, a ruling by a British court that Gore's awareness raising movie is a steaming compost of nonsense prompted this response from a CNN meteorologist:

the Oscars, they give out awards for fictional films as well

More Fuzzy Math

The numbers are coming in now on LiveEarth, and they are falling well short of the "2 billion" quoted by promoters. The Daily Mail called the show a "foul-mouthed flop:"

Live Earth peaked with 4.5 million viewers in Britain, compared with 14.8 million for the Diana concert.

Other estimates have the BBC's average audience under a million:

BBC’s live afternoon television coverage attracted an average British audience of just 900,000...

NBC turned a bad night even worse:

The estimated 2.7 million viewers were slightly less than the 3 million NBC would average on a normal Saturday night in the summer with repeats on what already is the least-popular night of television.

The show seemed to do best in Australia, where it garnered 1.34 million viewers

Only in the mind of a global climate warming change disciple could less than 10 million become 2 billion.

Unsuitable Activists

Even bands are bristling at the hypocricy of GoreAid:

Rock group Arctic Monkeys have become the latest music industry stars to question whether the performers taking part in Live Earth on Saturday are suitable climate change activists. "

It's a bit patronising for us 21 year olds to try to start to change the world," said Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders, explaining why the group is not on the bill at any of Al Gore's charity concerts.

"Especially when we're using enough power for 10 houses just for (stage) lighting. It'd be a bit hypocritical," he told AFP in an interview before a concert in Paris.

Bass player Nick O'Malley chimes in: "And we're always jetting off on aeroplanes!"

And with each example of lagging ticket sales, the percentage of emissions per disciple goes up.

Gorecensus

Before there was scientific consensus, there was Al Gore consensus:

The failed presidential candidate claims that the stronger scientific consensus he knew was about to emerge meant "we in the US were about to shift into high gear in addressing the climate crisis".

To combat the catastophic warming that will pass the "point of no return" in 10 years, Gore plans to use a ton of electricity, fly musical acts to exotic locales, and cross his fingers, hoping everyone in America pumps up the CO2 long enough to learn about global climate warming change:

Mr Gore is currently promoting the Live Earth concerts that will take place next month...

The only thing that could cause more environmental destruction than not watching GoreAid...is watching.

UPDATE: It looks like the Goracle has his work cut out for him:

ALMOST three quarters of people believe global warming is a 'natural occurrence' and not a result of carbon emissions, a survey claimed today.

Smart, that.

Insolence

Robert Tracinski hammers the Goracle and his new book, "The Assault on Reason:"

...respect for reason requires the subordination of coercion to persuasion through the strict limitation of government power. A respect for reason requires a commitment to liberty above all else.

Al Gore stands for the exact opposite. His environmentalist crusade is dedicated to the suppression of the material products of the human mind--our advanced industry and technology. And now, in his new book, he is promoting a rationalization for the suppression of free political debate.

To do this while billing himself as a defender of reason is an act of supreme insolence.

All in a day's work for Al.

Five Years to the End

Environmentalist group paints doomsday scenario:

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) warns governments have until 2012 to "plant the seeds of change" and make positive moves to limit carbon emissions.

If they fail to do so, the WWF's Vision For 2050 warns "generations to come will have to live with the compromises and hardships caused by their inability to act".

"We have a small window of time in which we can plant the seeds of change, and that is the next five years," James Leape, from the WWF, said.

Meterologist says "not so much" and adds details:

"We're all going to survive this. It's all going to be a joke in five years," he said.

The good news is that we won't have to talk about in five short years. It will either be too late or a punchline. Either way, a reason to long for May 20, 2012.

In other warming news: Back in February, we asked where the energy from Gore Aid would come from. Add Roger Daltrey to the list who think a global rock concert is not only not the solution, but will add to the problem:

"Bo***cks to that! The last thing the planet needs is a rock concert. I can't believe it. Let's burn even more fuel."

Then again, there might be someone, somewhere, unaware of the global climate warming change issue. Won't it all be worth it if guilt and fear can make that person buy flourescent lightbulbs?

You see, the earth…has a fever… and like when you and I have a fever, your body actually feels cooler - you see? Have you noticed that when you have a fever you actually get the chills? So what I am saying is that Global Warming causes temperatures to be unpredictable!

In other words, it's just a touch of the Climate Flu.

Durkin Speaks, Gore Hides

Via K-Dawg, Martin Durkin responds to the not at all surprising attacks of his documentary "The Great Global Warming Swindle":

The remarkable thing is not that I was attacked. But that the attacks have been so feeble. The ice-core data was the jewel in the global-warming crown, cited again and again as evidence that carbon dioxide 'drives' the earth's climate. In fact, as its advocates have been forced to admit, the ice-core data says the opposite. Temperature change always precedes changes in CO2 by several hundred years. Temperature drives CO2, not the other way round. The global-warmers do not deny this. They cannot.

Indeed. Having watched "No Inconvenient Context" twice now, I must say there is heavy emphasis put on the ice core data. Perhaps it is because this data is actually damaging to the global warming cause that Al Gore is showing so much disdain for Senate rules:

* Gore first demanded to be granted an unprecedented 30 minute opening statement

* Gore demanded a waiver of the EPW committee’s 48 hour rule that requires all witnesses before EPW to submit their testimony in advance. The GOP minority on the EPW committee then agreed to waive the 48 hour rule in favor of allowing Gore to submit his testimony 24 hours before the hearing.

* The former Vice President has violated the new 24 hour deadline extension by failing to submit his testimony

* The word on Capitol Hill says not to expect Gore’s testimony to the Senate EPW committee until Wednesday (March 21) -- the day of the hearing.

If global warming is real (and it is, everybody says so) why is Gore so unwilling to have his testimony scrutinized?

When All Else Fails, Fear

I've sat through "An Inconvenient Truth" twice now in the last few days and I must say, it is far worse than I possibly could have imagined. Long strings of completely random events, all thrown up on the dartboard of global warming, interspersed with long periods of reflection by the Goracle that border on confessional in tone, at times.

The many heart-felt pleas for people to just think a little harder for solutions in their own energy consumption will more than offset his February energy bill. How many carbon offsets does one get for Spreading the Good Word anyway? Can the importance of carrying the global warming message of guilt and fear even be measured?

Some of the movie was hysterical, but most of the time I sat in kind of a trance wondering how anybody could take it seriously for even a second. No clear thinking person could walk away from this movie thinking they just saw a convincing scientific case for global warming.

There was though, one very sobering moment in the film when Al depicts the global flooding if Greenland melted. Sobering in its blatant fear mongering.

He shows the worlds coastlines and depicts them as the evil water rushes over the land. Naturally he doesn't fail to note the "X millions of people" who would be suddenly dead or displaced. The sequence is played over very dramatic music. It is quite literally "The Day After Tomorrow" shot from a satellite perspective.

Al doesn't do one thing in the sequence to suggest the process would take decades, or much longer, no one would drown, and there wouldn't be huge hordes of refugees. Instead he feeds the notion of a catastrophic event.

If I was a 5th grader, I wouldn't have slept for months. The sequence's only purpose is to keep 5th graders awake at night. Whatever Al Gore believes, he should be ashamed for intentionally removing relevent context in order to instill fear in children.

In fact, they should have called the movie "No Inconvenient Context." Context requires science and science is nowhere near the film. I would recommend it though, to anyone interested in how every tragedy that ever occurred in Al Gore's life made him reflect on man's relationship with the earth.
