Deception Realized

Former University of Winnipeg climatology professor Dr. Tim Ball is the latest to decry the religious heathens of global warming:

Believe it or not, Global Warming is not due to human contribution of Carbon Dioxide (CO2). This in fact is the greatest deception in the history of science. We are wasting time, energy and trillions of dollars while creating unnecessary fear and consternation over an issue with no scientific justification.

He joins other critical thinkers like these guys, this dude, these fellows, this MIT guy, this denialist, some science type, a whole bunch of people, don't forget these smarty-pants, and George Will.

The New Yorker's Elizabeth Kolbert, on the other hand, doesn't get out much:

Except in certain benighted precincts—oil-industry-funded Web sites, the Bush White House, Michael Crichton’s den—no one wastes much energy these days trying to deny global warming. Credit Al Gore’s documentary, “An Inconvenient Truth,” or this winter’s snowless ski season in the Alps, or the fact that it was seventy-two degrees in Central Park on January 6th.

Whenever someone salivates over Al Gore's movie, you know they don't have a clue. Still, I wonder what the sub-zero temps right here, right now, tell Elizabeth.

Perhaps the devout, like Kolbert, should spend more time trying to understand science and less time trying to be all sciency.

UPDATE: Here's one way to make sure denialist climatologists don't upset Kolbert's delicate worldview: fire them.
