DONALD RUMSFELD IS SHOWING SOME COMMON SENSE on the Gitmo issue today, noting that closing the detention center would just lead to a whole new host of problems.

"A whole lot of questions come to mind. If you closed it, where would you go," he told a news conference at NATO headquarters.

Although it would have been better if the idea of closing the base had never been offered, regardless of how vague the notion had been, it is of great relief that someone realizes that closing the base accomplishes nothing, except to start the entire process over at another locale.
