I GUESS WE SHOULD HAVE SEEN THIS COMING, what with how successful the Koran abuse stories have been for the Islamofascist cause in this country.
The militant Islamic Jihad on Wednesday presented pictures of torn copies of the Islamic holy book, the Quran, claimed they were taken inside an Israeli prison and said soldiers were responsible for the desecration.
Of course, the "dirty" Israeli's denied the stories, just like they deny stories of killing Palenstinian children and using their blood to make pastries, and like they deny being "apes and pigs," and countless other heinous things they are accused of by Islamic fundamentalists on a daily basis.
You know where this latest story about Koran abuse is going? Nowhere.
While we seem to be slaves to our leftist reactionaries and their propoganda machine, the Israeli's have a much better idea of what they are up against and will properly file this story where it belongs...in the trash can.
Perhaps if our experience with Islamic terrorism hadn't accured in a flash, on one day, we might have a better concept of our enemy. Perhaps if the three thousand dead citizens had trickled in, ten, twenty, fifty at a time over a period of decades, we wouldn't subject ourselves to meaningless squabbles about the Koran. Perhaps there would be some unity as to the goal of this war. Alas...
In the meantime, anti-war forces are playing a very dangerous game. They are doing nothing less than betting the farm on their actions. When this country is hit again, and it will be hit again, that bet will have drained their pockets entirely. Will anyone care if a Koran is being stepped on at Gitmo? Hell, will anyone care that there is a Gitmo? Will anyone care whether or not we try to make a "fair fight" out of this war?
No they will not.
They will want the war over with a clear victory, one that goes as far to guarantee there will never be yet another attack on our soil as possible. The left should think about that statement. Because when that time comes, they will have mortaged any good faith they had with the American people on a few yokels at Abu Ghraib and a drop of urine at Gitmo. They will have blown America's "atrocities" so far out of proportion that when they really need someone to listen, people will have turned their backs in disgust and embarrassment.
