DEMOCRATS CAN BE SO SHORT-SIGHTED. It was so obvious when they started all of this Tom DeLay nonsense that it would come back t0 bite them. Drudge reports that the chickens are indeed coming home to roost.

ROLL CALL reports: Although House Majority Leader Tom DeLay is by far the most high-profile lawmaker caught up in the scandal so far, to this point, more Democrats than Republicans have found themselves the subject of news reports outlining potential violations of House ethics rules for taking trips funded by registered lobbyists or lobbying firms.

Among the Democrats are Reps. James Clyburn and Bennie Thompson, who will likely face an inquiry. Hilariously, Dem's are reported to be "privately taken aback" by the charges. Of course, what really has them taken aback is this new world in which they can longer rely on a media monopoly to carry their water for them.

If their learning curve was any worse, they would have to wear helmets on the House floor.

Nancy Pelosi, who called the Republican Party "above the law" a couple of weeks ago, is now spinning like a top.

...Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Wednesday that Democrats cannot be considered in the same category as Republicans when it comes to ethics problems. Rep. Pelosi said, "It is not an issue of members of our Caucus having the same sort of a problem. Make no mistake - there is a drastic difference between the timing of reporting things and ethical behavior."

In other words, Democrats are "above the law." Good one Nancy.
