Despite a 4-3 win over Air Force Academy, the Gophers looked miserable through 50 minutes of a 60 minute game. Elder pretty much sums it up:
My highlight of the first two periods was cleaning out our litter boxes in the intermission before the third period. Yes, it was that putrid for the Maroon and Gold.
Still, the last ten minutes were as good as the first 50 were bad. Down 3-1, the Gophers scored three goals and withstood a solid rally by AFA, which pulled its goalie with 2:08. For a team making its first appearance ever in the NCAAs (the Gophers set a record this year with 31 appearances), AFA looked really good.
On the other hand, if the Gophers play NoDak or Michigan like they played AFA, they will be crushed.
UPDATE: It's NoDak in a game that was apparently played without goalies (8-5).
