But...How Could This Be?

Haven't the Democrats done everything? Followed the manual to the letter?

They have called Republicans "evil," "corrupt," "dictatorial," and "liars." They have pointed out that the entire right-wing of America is comprised of angry, bigoted, and oppresive "white Christians." Almost every day they remind America that Bush lied about WMD in Iraq, and that the party is being led by a theocratic "religious right" bent on insuring that bouquets are never thrown at a gay wedding.

The Democrats have warned Americans that it's military is committing Bush-sanctioned acts of air conditioning against peace-loving freedom-fighting neighbors. They warned everyone of the dangers of listening to coke-heads like Rush Limbaugh and courageously defended common sense from the likes of Fox News.

They have worked so hard, so diligently, so freakin' tirelessly to illustrate that they are good, decent, hard-working, patriotic Americans that the following news could only be described as a seismic shock to the tectonic plates of national politics.

A poll on the political mood in the United States conducted by the Democratic Party has alarmed the party at its own loss of popularity.

Conducted by the party-affiliated Democracy Corps, the poll indicated 43 percent of voters favored the Republican Party, while 38 percent had positive feelings about Democrats.

"Republicans weakened in this poll ... but it shows Democrats weakening more," said Stanley Greenberg, who served as President Clinton's pollster.

There is simply no way that anyone could have seen this coming. No way, no how.

And, if there is anything that could possibly make this disturbing and mind-numbing trend even worse, it is the revelation that the poll was conducted by the Democrats themselves. Were this same poll to have been conducted by a neutral organization, by God we'd have to place armed guards in front of the razor blade display at the local herbal medicine store.
