The New Fabulism

Is there something inherent that prevents Democratic presidential candidates from telling the simple truth about issues large and small?

It's shades of Al Gore all over again. Obama can't keep his friends or sermons straight. But Hillary has got to take the cake with her sniper recollection:

“I certainly do remember that trip to Bosnia,” she said last week. “There was a saying around the White House that if a place was too small, too poor, or too dangerous, the president couldn’t go, so send the First Lady.

“I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base.”

Seriously, what a dumb ass. Was she unaware that people and press tend to take note of the First Lady's arrivals and departures? Now she says her entire recollection amounts to having "misspoke." But hey, it was a "potential" combat zone, which is why she brought her daughter.

At least she didn't say it was "seared" into her memory.

I at least gave Hillary credit for enough smarts to avoid stupid Gore/Kerry-like bald-faced lies for self-aggrandizement. Clearly I was wrong.

If John McCain can't win this election, he should just pack it in. Clinton and Obama aren't candidates; they're buffoons.
