...but then, we knew that already.
That's right, the Ducks win the cup in a 6-2 romp over the Ottawa Senators. With the pressure off, the Sens are sure to get their game back and start a historic comeback. Wait. Never mind.
Bragging rights go to Hockey Rube on this one although the result was never really that much in doubt. I like underdogs and the Sens were certainly that. On the other hand, the Ducks are an astoundingly good hockey team, especially on defense.
On the plus side, it was nice to see the Niedermayer brothers win a cup together. And, I'm even a little happy for Teemu Selanne, who has labored in this league a long time without a championship. Nevertheless, I still hate the damn Ducks and will for all time.
On the other hand, this was one of the most boring Stanley Cup playoffs I can remember. Along the way there was only a single game 7. One. Many of the series were done in five, including the final. Not even the final game was exciting. The Ducks jumped out to a 2-0 lead and the closest it ever got was 3-2. It was 4-2 to start the third period and two goals might as well be six goals against the Ducks defense.
To be honest, I'm just kind of glad it's over. Let's hope next year brings more excitement.
