Disney and ABC endorsed Rosie O'Donnell further demonstrates her ignorance in all things this week when she discussed the Imus issue:
But the point of the story is, if it impedes on free speech in America, democracy is at stake. Because democracy is based on freedom of speech and freedom of the press. So we really have to worry about that in this country.
There is absolutely nothing about the Imus story that has anything to do with free speech. Nothing. If Imus' career is completely ruined because of this, he will still be free to stand in Times Square and rant about "nappy headed hos" (or hoes, the debate rages on) all day long.
Or, for instance, if Disney and ABC were ever to grow a set and Rosie was fired for the far more disturbing and hateful things she says, she too would be free to stand on any street corner in America and continue to spew vile baloney.
This isn't about free speech. It's about what media outlets want to pay for. Business decision, plain and simple. But I'm not surprised Rosie wants to turn it into a constitutional issue. Her time is coming.
