War With Islamic Militants Not About Democracy

In Melbourne recently, an Islamic militant was interviewed following a raid, via LFG, and promptly exlplained that the war on terror is not a war over democracy.

“Let us practise our religion properly, not according to you - it has to be according to the Koran,” says the group’s spokesman. “In our religion, they don’t have democracy. When we say democracy, it means we are making a partner with Allah in making laws. Allah does not need a partner. That’s why we don’t believe in democracy.

Now it all makes sense. The war is over the definition of democracy, not democracy itself. See, they already have democracy. It's democracy whereby Allah makes the laws, which are then handed down to the mullahs, to be obeyed at risk of death by the rank and file. You know, Democracy.

Melbourne can be so oppressive. If the militants were back in Iran or Syria, why, they'd be able to practice their religion "properly," with no dictatorial hand of the state interfering in the bomb-making, or plots to destroy western civilization, that Allah apparently demands.

There's just something about a free people that make me a little weepy inside. This guy hasn't found his country song back-drop yet, but by God when he does he will be a powerful advocate for democracy "Koran style."

It's freedom baby...ya.
