The Patriotism of the Left

The left simply cannot stand that on Monday, all across America, sheeple will put out flags, crack a cold one, and grill up some burgers in celebration of not only the anniversary of America's seperation from England, but of it's overall greatness in philosophy and pursuit of freedom.

Indymedia, of course, would prefer to focus on America's "illegitimacy" by celebrating the day with the most un-original ritual of them all. You guessed it...flag burning. Indeed, uber-lib's from all across the oppressive realm will don birkenstocks, towel off armpits and show us all what true patriotism loooks like.

...since then the government has only grown more and more coercive in its aim of imposing American corporate interests everywhere it can around the world, so when the leaders talk about how “Independence Day” is all about freedom and democracy it reeks of hypocrisy. July 4th has only ever symbolized the independence of the New World royalty. So on this Fourth of July we call on you to express your feelings on their “Independence Day” by burning a flag in a nationally coordinated action. Together we will show the elite that we are everywhere and that we completely reject the false principals this holiday is based on.

Each and every day that passes shows Indymedia to be more and more representative of the American left in general. The left dreams of the day when all of us will celebrate Independence Day by dousing not charcoal but American flags in lighter fluid.

These are the poeple who campaign for Democratic politicians to be elected to state and federal office. These are the people whose support those Democratic politicians are more than willing to accept. These are the people who constantly demonize conservatives and decry Republican policies.

Whenever these people speak, I am more and more comfortable with my own decision to leave the Democratic Party. And, unless you support this kind of anti-American display of idiocy, there is increasingly little room for you in the Democratic Party either.

Only the left could make the 4th of July a partisan holiday. Of course, it wouldn't have to be that way if the rest of us sheeple would simply open our eyes to American illegitimacy and agree to join them on the front lines of freedom, burning our own flag.
