Will One Leftist Lap-Dog Fire Another?

No less than a dozen UN staffers have written a letter to "outgoing" administrator Mark Malloch Brown to fire another staffer, Justin Leites, for working for the Kerry campaign last year, and thus breaking UN neutrality rules.

The letter, signed by "12 UNDP Staffers" demands the immediate dismissal of Justin Leites, who heads the UNDP internal communications department. The unnamed staffers call on Mr. Malloch Brown to dismiss Mr. Leites "before you relinquish office as UNDP administrator." A Turkish national, Kemal Dervis, has been named to replace Mr. Malloch Brown at UNDP, starting August 15, as Mr. Malloch Brown dedicates himself fully to serving as U.N. chief of staff.

However, as we noted earlier this week, courtesy of Atlas Shrugs, Brown himself lives in an apartment owned by George Soros, one of the, if not the, single largest contributer to the Democratic Party. Brown's rent actually eats up all but $5,000 of his annual salary, raising questions, in my mind, as to how he pays for groceries, cab fare, cable, beer, and other such necessary items.

It's certainly not a surprise that the UN is full of leftists. What is surprising is that people within the organization are displaying the courage to do something about it, in a similar way that officials are trying to clean up PBS. No doubt we will start hearing any day now how there is a Rovian conspiracy to turn the UN into another "right-wing" propaganda machine. Furthermore, the right has Fox News and shouldn't that be enough?

In short, no it isn't. I won't be happy until we have turned every thoughtful, neutral, and caring organization into a thoughtless, radical, unfeeling, right-wing, hate-speech machine.

So there.
