Durbin and Leahy Are Officially Certifiable

UPDATE: Cap and I were discussing Dick Turban today and possible motives for such ludicruous statements (see below). After all, does he, or Leahy, think that the American people really give two shits about some terrorist at Gitmo and the setting of his air conditioning? I forwarded the notion that this is simple pandering to the far-left base, ala Howard Dean, but Cap took it a step further.

He noted that the single-largest contributer to the Democratic Party is none other than George Soros. Given that, is it possible that comments such as Turban's and Leahy's, and the actions of Schumer and Kennedy in regards to judicial nominees, are as simple as keeping the money flowing?

If that is the case, Turban and Leahy have sold out their country and it's military, for something as crass and self-serving as campaign funds. Frankly, I liked it better when I just thought they were insane.

ORIGINAL POST: Dick Durbin, speaking only to himself apparently, on the senate floor last night, blasted the U.S. military, likening them to a Pol Pot regime for the following "abuses" at Gitmo.

On one occasion, the air conditioning had been turned down so far and the temperature was so cold in the room, that the barefooted detainee was shaking with cold. . . . On another occasion, the [air conditioner] had been turned off, making the temperature in the unventilated room well over 100 degrees.

On another occasion, not only was the temperature unbearably hot, but extremely loud rap music was being played in the room, and had been since the day before, with the detainee chained hand and foot in the fetal position on the tile floor.

My first thought was: those terrorist bastards have air conditioning, when I do not? My second thought was that I too am forced to listen to my kids loud rap music often, and it can have the effect of forcing your body to coil into the fetal position.

My life is starting to look pretty crappy. Thanks Dick.

So...how does Durbin describe my life?

If I...did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime--Pol Pot or others--that had no concern for human beings.

I fully expect that there will be an Amnesty International report highlighting the "gulag" of my life any day now.

Not to be outdone, Senator Patrick Leahy referred to Gitmo this way today:

"an international embarrassment to our nation, to our ideals and remains a festering threat to our security."

No Senator Leahy, you are. And that goes for you too Dick Turban. You are rapidly becoming the best recruiting tool the terrorists have, outpacing even Ted Kennedy. Get a grip for cripes sake. Or get a new job. You are an embarrassment to yourselves, your constituents, and your nation.

Not that we need one, but here is a description of the current condition, not that it will mean anything to these two intellectually challenged Democratic senators.

Air Force Brig. Gen. Thomas L. Hemingway told the panel, "America is at war. It is not a metaphorical war. It is as tangible as the blood, the rubble that littered the streets of Manhattan on Sept. 11, 2001."

Amen.
