JIM WEST WILL TAKE A FEW WEEKS OFF to prepare a defense for himself against charges of molestation brought by a newspaper. This story by AP makes no mention of any pending criminal investigation by law enforcement. It could still happen I suppose, but what is there really to investigate?
Two felons have made charges of molestation, one man says that West once made him feel funny, and another charges that a friend of West molested him. Not too many District Attornies would touch this case with a ten-foot pole as it stands right now.
I maintain that, without those charges, this is just another horny politician story. Still, that hasn't stopped Washington's leftsists from continuing the derision of West for political gain. Anybody who wants too, apparently, can take a free shot at him, as with the councilwoman who claimed West masturbated in his office.
"This man - whether he's straight, bisexual, or gay - deserves nothing but scorn," said Matt Foreman, executive director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force in Washington, D.C.
Nothing but scorn? If one didn't know better, they might think the left has turned into a bunch of irrational gay-haters.
UPDATED (5/10 11:53 central) The FBI will pursue the allegations of "public corruption" against West, which shouldn't come as a surprise. His computer use is sketchy and offering jobs for companionship is a no-no. But there is still not even a sniff of an investigation into the "teeth" of the story by the Spokesman-Review, that is, the questionable and vague molestation charges against West.
